October 2015

The meeting was called to order by president Don Searls with 18 members and guest present.

The treasurer report was given by Thomas Hudson.

Old Business

Don recommended last month that we should think about having one car show per year as the fall car show does not do as well as the spring car show. A motion was made, seconded and voted on too only have the spring car show. The spring show will be on April 30, 2016. We already have the Expo center reserved for that date.

It’s time we need to think about where we will distribute the money made from our car shows. Several suggestions have been made and Don suggested we do the following. Since we have close to $12,000.00 in the checking account, we could give each of the five organizations suggested $1,000.00. That would leave the club checking account with an approximate balance of $5,000.00. The organizations we are going to contribute too are the following: Museum of Automobiles, Conway Ministry Center, and Faulkner County Relay for Life, CASA and Children’s Advocacy Alliance and the Bethlehem House. A motion was made, seconded and voted on to accept Don’s proposal. We will have a representative from each organization at the next meeting to accept a check from the club. The Log Cabin will also be at the meeting to take pictures and put an article in the paper about the donations from our club.

Upcoming car shows were announced by Don. If you need any information, please contact Don. The Friday Night Kruzn will be held on October 16th. This will be the last one for the year. It will be picked up again in March 2016. The fall cruise that Dicky and Mary Jane Shannon put on will be held on October 24, 2015. The cruise will leave the Conway Town Center at 8:30 am and will travel to Mt. Magazine.

New Business

We discussed the annual Christmas party. It will be held on December 14, 2015. We will have the party as usual at Helton’s Garage and it will start at 6:30 pm. It will be pot luck and everyone will bring a dish.  The club will furnish the meat and Thomas Hudson has agreed to smoke it for the party. We also will play Dirty Santa and anyone who wants to participate needs to bring a gift.

We nominated and elected officers for 2016. They are as follows: Treasurer Thomas Hudson, Secretary Rene Gates, Vice President Ken Hamacher and President Larry Jones.

There will not be an eat out this month. We will consider the Friday Night Kruzn as the eat out. Door prizes were given out and the 50/50 was won by Ken Hamacher.

A motion was made and 2nd. to adjourn.

From the President

2015 is almost over... and it has been a great year.  We had two good car shows and raised some money for some very worthwhile charities.  I think that is awesome!

I want to take a moment to thank everyone that has helped with the car shows or anything else we have done in the past 7 years a I served as president of TSCC.  I have enjoyed doing what I have been doing, but as I have said all year, it's time for a change.  I am ready to step back and help someone else lead the club and I know they will do a great job!  I will still be around and taking care of our online presence, including the website, social media and the newsletter.  So you aren't getting rid of me that easily.

I also want to thank Rosemary Watson and Bill Helton for their service to the club.  We wouldn't be where we are are without these two individuals.  Rosemary has done a great job as secretary and keeping things documented.  Bill has served many years as president and vice-president and done an outstanding job.  Also Thomas Hudson, he took over as treasurer 2 years ago and keeps everything in balance!

Thanks needs to go the people that have been elected to lead the club going into next year as well.  Renee Gates will serve as our secretary, Ken Hamacher as our vice-president, and Larry Jones as president.  I know they will do an awesome job and ask that we give them the same support that you have given in years past.   They will assume their roles in January 2016.

We have one more official meeting this year, and we are working to get representatives from each of the charities that we are giving a donation to be in attendance to accept the gift.  Please try to be at this meeting to show your support of these charities and welcome our guests.

The December meeting will be our annual Christmas party.  As we have done the past couple of years, we will meet our normal night, but at 6:30 pm.  This years part will be held at Helton's just as we have and Thomas Hudson will be smoking the meat and everyone else will be bringing the side dishes.

That's about it for now... see you at the next meeting!
