June 2015

The meeting was called to order by president Don Searls with 18 members and guest present.

The treasurer report was given by Thomas Hudson.

Old Business

Don gave an update on the plaques for our fall car show.  The plaques have been ordered from Crown Trophy. They are 6 x 8 inches, the plaque is black and the plate is brushed aluminum with black images and lettering. The club logo is at the top with a set of gears in the middle. The words Toad Suck Car Club 3rd Place is at the bottom.  Don ordered 125 of them at a cost of $6.95 each. They should be in by the end of the month.  Our fall car show will be on September 5, 2015 at the expo center.

Upcoming car shows for the month were announced by Don.  Anyone needing information concerning the shows can contact Don. The Friday Night Kruzn will be held Friday July 17 from 6-8pm at the Purple Cow. There will be live music and you will receive a 10% discount off of your bill from the Purple Cow and Zaza’s.

New Business

We discussed what the club should do with the money raised from our car shows.  We are no longer giving money for a scholarship to UACCM, as interest in the scholarship has declined.  Don suggested that we pick three charities and we would start giving to them each year.  We voted a few years ago not to let our checking account go below $5,000.00, therefore anything raised and above the $5,000.00 should be split between the charities.  The charities should be from the Faulkner County community. Some of the examples are Bethlehem House, HAVEN, Children’s Advocacy Alliance, CASA, and Conway Ministry Center.  We decided to table this until the next meeting so that everyone will have time to consider this idea.

One of our food venders, Road Hog BBQ, wanted our club to consider reducing his $100.00 fee.  We felt that we would have to reduce the fee for all our venders if we reduced his.  A motion was made, 2nd. and voted on to keep the price the same for him.

Don received a call from Bryan Lin of Motor Sports Authority, and he wants to give our club his left over trophies that he had from his car shows. Bryan is not doing anymore car shows.  Don accepted his offer and the trophies have been delivered to Heltons.

A new position has been formed for our club. The new position will include taking care of our website, Facebook page, Twitter account and anything that goes online.  Creating car show flyers and graphics will be included.  This person will plan 2-3 fun events for the club members throughout the year which could be road trips or cook outs.  This would not include the Christmas party or car show events as others already take care of these responsibilities.  This position will be an appointed position and not be voted on every year.  The person appointed will remain until the person no longer wants the position or the club wants a new person in the position.  Don Searls will be the appointed person.

Don Meyer showed the club a picture of his son’s new car, a 1950 Chevy 2 door coupe.  It was a surprised as he did not know that his son had bought the car.  Don was very proud of his son’s car.

The eat out will be held on July 23, 2015 at the whole Hog Café. The time will be at 6:30pm

A motion was made and 2nd to adjourn.

From the President

This year is flying by, we are over half way to the end of it.  And that also means we only have one more meeting before our next car show on September 5.  We will discuss more about that at the next meeting.

I thought it was awesome that Bryan Lin called and gave the club the leftover trophies from his car show.  That will save a bit of money buying some of our trophies. We can use them for quite a bit of different uses.

That's about it for this month, so we will see you on August 10!
